President Begaj decrees law on Albania’s military participation in Gaza

President Bajram Begaj has decreed Law No. 98/2026 on the participation of Albania’s Armed Forces in the military operation of the International Stabilization Force in Gaza. The Assembly approved the initiative following a proposal from the Council of Ministers.

The law sets the maximum number of Albanian personnel at 40. The contingent will support security and stability operations. Its duties will also include protecting mission personnel, facilities and infrastructure. The mission will support humanitarian operations and monitor and report on the security situation. It may also carry out other tasks under the mission’s mandate within the framework of the Board of Peace.

Meanwhile, the law provides additional financial support for participating military personnel during their deployment. They will receive allowances for the days spent on the operation, with the amount to be set by a Council of Ministers decision.

The law will enter into force 15 days after its publication in the Official Gazette.
