TIRANA, April 7 – Spring arrives at Tirana’s Grand Park, where the artificial lake draws people of all ages. Residents enjoy the sun, fresh air, and scenic surroundings.
Visitors stroll among lush greenery and relax by the calm waters. They use multifunctional spaces for recreation, sports, and leisure. The lake offers an ideal setting for walking, jogging, and family outings.
Prime Minister Edi Rama shared photos from the park. He highlighted its natural beauty and its importance for urban life. The park spreads across gently sloping hills. The artificial lake forms small bays and peninsulas, creating a particularly picturesque landscape.
Tirana’s Grand Park and its artificial lake date back to the 1950s. In 1955, authorities created the lake from surrounding waters. Volunteers built a 400-meter dam to prevent flooding in the city. In 1957–1958, they planted decorative greenery and built park infrastructure. These efforts established the area as one of Tirana’s main public spaces.
Today, residents and tourists enjoy the artificial lake and park. They experience a peaceful green retreat with nature and recreational opportunities for all ages.
