The law shifts away from a centralized model. It promotes liberalization. Competition will drive the sector. Meanwhile, new energy sources increased. Photovoltaics now produce about 10% of domestic power. Around 400 self-producers operate in the market. ALPEX also supports trading.
The reform empowers consumers. They can both use and produce energy. In addition, the law strengthens regional integration. It sets rules for cross-border capacity and cooperation. This improves supply security and efficiency.
The government also plans smart meters nationwide. Institutions will gain stronger roles. The Energy Regulatory Authority will expand its powers.
Karakaçi said the draft law builds a modern market. It aligns the sector with European standards. It also supports a sustainable future.
