“Ora e Maleve” Begins Publication in Shkodër in 1923

The newspaper “Ora e Maleve” begins publication in Shkodër on 15 April 1923. It becomes an important platform for political and social thought. First, it reflects the political and economic situation in Albania. It focuses especially on developments in Shkodër.

Moreover, the newspaper publishes 51 issues until the end of 1924. It actively shapes public debate. In addition, it defends Albania’s territorial integrity. It supports the liberal opposition of the time.

Therefore, it becomes a voice for democratic ideas. Writers like Luigj Gurakuqi and Hilë Mosi contribute to it. Furthermore, the newspaper combines political seriousness with satire. It criticizes corruption and backwardness.

Meanwhile, it promotes patriotic themes and national unity. It uses satire as a sharp tool of expression. As a result, “Ora e Maleve” reflects the major events of 1924. It also covers the government program of Fan Noli.

Finally, the newspaper leaves an important mark in early 20th-century Albanian political press.
