Delphi Economic Forum, Hoxha meets Greek minister: A new chapter in bilateral relations

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, held a meeting with his Greek counterpart, George Gerapetritis, during the Delphi Economic Forum. Through a post on the platform X, Hoxha shared details from the meeting, noting that they reaffirmed their joint commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation.

Hoxha added that he appreciated Greece’s continued support for Albania’s EU membership, as well as its ongoing advocacy for enlargement in the Western Balkans.

“On the sidelines of the Delphi Economic Forum, I met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, George Gerapetritis, to continue our constructive and forward-looking dialogue on Albanian-Greek relations.

Following the earlier meeting today in Athens between our Prime Ministers, we reaffirmed our shared commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation in a spirit of mutual trust, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership, firmly anchored in our shared European future and the solidarity of NATO Allies.

To this end, we agreed to actively and concretely engage at all levels, with dedicated teams, to address unresolved issues and work towards balanced and sustainable solutions in the interest of both our countries and our citizens, opening a new chapter in our bilateral relations.

Unlocking the full potential of our partnership is, in itself, a direct investment in bilateral friendship and cooperation, as well as in the stability, prosperity, and shared European future of our region.

At the same time, we agreed to fully seize every opportunity to intensify political dialogue and expand economic cooperation, particularly in energy, infrastructure, and tourism, while also promoting greater connectivity and people-to-people exchanges.

I also expressed our appreciation for Greece’s continued support for Albania’s EU membership and its consistent advocacy for enlargement in the Western Balkans, including keeping this issue high on the agenda of this year’s Delphi Forum.

We welcome Greece’s commitment to work closely with the upcoming EU Presidencies of Ireland and Lithuania to ensure that enlargement remains a key European priority.

We also welcome the Delphi Declaration adopted this morning, a renewed commitment to finally turn the Thessaloniki promise into a concrete outcome. The Oracle of Apollo must have been listening,” Hoxha wrote.
