European Union envoy for Kosova–Serbia dialogue Peter Sorensen to visit Pristina for talks with Prime Minister Kurti

TIRANA, April 16 – European Union envoy for the Kosova–Serbia dialogue Peter Sorensen arrives in Prishtina on April 15. He meets Kosova Prime Minister Albin Kurti during the visit. A Brussels source told Radio Free Europe.

A diplomatic source links the visit to ongoing efforts on the Kosova–Serbia dialogue process. The Kosova government received questions about the agenda. Officials prepare responses ahead of the meeting.

Sorensen travelled to Belgrade on April 9. He met Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic during that visit. Both sides discussed progress in normalisation talks between Kosova and Serbia.

The European Union continues preparations for a possible new round of high-level dialogue. Officials intensify contacts with international partners, including United States representatives. Sources describe increased diplomatic activity in recent weeks.

Kosova and Serbia last held a high-level meeting in September 2023. The last Kurti–Vucic meeting took place shortly before the Banjska armed attack in northern Kosovo. One Kosova police officer died during the incident. Three attackers also died in the exchange of fire.

Kosova authorities accuse Serbia of involvement in the attack. Serbian officials deny responsibility. The incident increased tensions and froze the political dialogue process.

The European Union aims to restart high-level talks in the coming weeks. Diplomatic sources say the EU targets a meeting before the summer period. A confirmed meeting would mark the first such session in three years.
