Foreign Ministry congratulates Presheva Valley Albanians on election results in Serbia

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs congratulated the Albanian Coalition and ethnic Albanians in the Presheva Valley on their results in Serbia’s parliamentary elections held the previous day. The ministry said the results highlighted the importance of civic engagement and free voting as expressions of democratic will.

Preliminary projections indicated 2 parliamentary seats, while the race for a third remained open. The ministry said this representation should help advance the rights of ethnic Albanians, ensure equal treatment and address their legitimate concerns.

Meanwhile, the ministry stressed that normalising relations with the Republic of Kosova remained a key responsibility for Serbia. It called for constructive engagement in the European Union-mediated dialogue, implementation of existing agreements and concrete steps towards stable neighbourly relations. The ministry also expressed readiness to cooperate with the institutions emerging from the electoral process, based on mutual respect, shared interests and a commitment to a more stable and secure Western Balkans with a European future.

According to preliminary projections by the Centre for Free and Fair Elections and Democracy (CeSID) and Ipsos, the Albanian Coalition of the Presheva Valley secured 2 seats, based on 56% of the sample processed.
