TIRANA, April 29 – The Price Transparency Board has set new ceiling prices for petroleum products. The new prices enter into force today at 11:30.
The board approves the decision at its latest meeting. It lowers the retail price of standard diesel (SSH EN 590) to a maximum of 203 Lek per litre. Wholesale diesel drops to 191 Lek per litre. The adjustment reduces the price by 3 Lek per litre.
In parallel, petrol receives a new ceiling price of 180 Lek per litre in retail. Wholesale petrol is set at 168 Lek per litre. Authorities link the change to international market fluctuations and exchange rate movements.
The board states that the new prices remain valid until the next review meeting. It will reassess them based on market developments.
At the same time, authorities stress compliance obligations for all retail and wholesale operators. They require full adherence to the set price limits.
In case of violations, regulators warn of suspension of activity for non-compliant businesses.
In an official clarification, the board refers to Normative Act number 1, dated 3 April 2026. It confirms that the excise level remains at 100 percent. It explains that current prices stay below the defined thresholds of 220 Lek per litre for diesel and 200 Lek per litre for petrol.
Meanwhile, relevant institutions, including line ministries, continue efforts to protect consumers and ensure fair competition in the fuel market.
