Government declares new cultural heritage sites, Gonxhja: Focus on protection and development

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport Blendi Gonxhja announced new cultural heritage decisions. First, the Council of Ministers approved several new “Immovable Cultural Heritage” sites.

Next, it declared the Urban Architectural Ensemble in Delvinë as protected heritage. The decision aims to preserve the city’s historical identity. Then, authorities listed the Archaeological Zone A in Bushat. The site shows settlement history from the Bronze Age to the Hellenistic period.

Moreover, the government included the Bylis–Klos Archaeological Park. It links the ancient cities of Bylis and Nikaja as one cultural unit. In addition, officials reorganized the Orikum Archaeological Park. They introduced new zoning for better management and protection.

After that, Gonxhja said the decisions strengthen legal protection of heritage sites. He also said they support restoration and investment.

Finally, he emphasized sustainable tourism. He said the goal is to support local communities and use cultural heritage for economic development.
