“Jusuf Vrioni” translation awards announced at Albanian Diaspora Summit

Organizers presented the “Jusuf Vrioni” translation awards during the fourth Albanian Diaspora Summit gala in Tirana. The Publishing Center for the Diaspora launched the competition for young translators from the diaspora.

Education Minister Mirela Kumbaro announced the winners. They will receive contracts with the Publishing Center for the Diaspora. They will translate one book from the “I Am Albanian” project. They will also attend translation workshops to improve their professional skills.

Kumbaro said the initiative aims to encourage new translators from Albanian into foreign languages. She noted the importance of continuing Jusuf Vrioni’s mission. The program promotes Albanian literature and culture abroad. She added that the award is not symbolic. Winners gain real professional opportunities.

Kumbaro highlighted that winners come from different countries. They represent Albania, Kosovo, and North Macedonia. She said the diaspora unites Albanians everywhere.

The jury gave the same motivation for all winners. The award recognizes seriousness and preparation. It also encourages further development in translation.

The winners are:
Gentian Çitaku for Albanian–French translation.
Fisnik Zyberi for Albanian–German translation.
Fecerica De Bastiani for Albanian–Italian translation.
Orgesa Kodhelaj for Albanian–Greek translation.
