PM Rama: 2027 budget exceeds 10 billion euros

Prime Minister Edi Rama said Albania’s 2027 draft budget will exceed 10 billion euros. He highlighted the redistribution of more revenue from sustained economic growth.

Finance Minister Petrit Malaj presented the main priorities. The government plans to double payments for children with disabilities. It will also recognise social security and health insurance contributions for their caregivers. From 2027, the government will introduce a monthly baby bonus. It will also exempt vulnerable groups from personal income tax.

Meanwhile, the agriculture programme will continue to compensate farmers for value-added tax. The government plans to increase direct support for farmers by 5.3 billion lek. Health care will also receive additional funding. Malaj said the budget will add about 1 billion lek, or around 10 million euros, for medicines and equipment in primary and secondary care.

The budget will also allocate 2.35% of gross domestic product to defence, meeting the government’s commitment. The Foreign Ministry will prioritise completing Albania’s mission in Brussels.
