Roman Forum added for first time to Butrint tourist itinerary

The Roman Forum in Butrint National Park will join the tourist itinerary for the first time.

The Butrint Management Foundation will start work on a new conservation project. The project will organize the area, cover excavations with sterile soil, and preserve the remains of the Roman Forum.

Dense vegetation currently surrounds the ruins. It threatens their stability and preservation. The intervention will stop further degradation caused by nature and time.

The foundation will cover the open excavations with sterile soil. It will also stabilize ancient structures to protect the archaeological site.

The foundation will improve access to the park for visitors, including people with disabilities. It will make 70% of the monuments accessible to all visitors.
