Saranda prepares for increased tourist flows, expands free public beach access

TIRANA, April 20 – Albanian authorities said the coastal city of Saranda is preparing for the upcoming tourist season with expanded public beach access and new infrastructure.

Tourism Minister Blendi Gonxhja inspected recent investments alongside local officials, including the mayor of Saranda. Officials said designated public beaches will offer free umbrellas and sunbeds to residents and visitors.

The minister said public beach areas aim to improve market balance by offering free alternatives and influencing overall pricing. He also noted that regional developments could redirect tourist flows toward Albania, increasing demand during the summer season.

Local authorities highlighted plans to improve access to coastal areas, including potential small maritime structures to reach beaches that remain difficult to access by land. Saranda continues to attract both domestic and international visitors, supported by its coastline and Mediterranean climate.
