Hasan Prishtina was born on April 27, 1873, in Vushtrri, Kosovo. He came from a wealthy family. He studied in Thessaloniki and Istanbul. He later became a strong voice in the Ottoman Parliament between 1908 and 1912. He defended the rights of Albanians in the Balkans.
He played a leading role in the 1912 General Uprising. He helped shape its political demands, known as the “14-point program.” He contributed to the Declaration of Independence of Albania. He also supported the formation of the first Albanian government.
Prishtina promoted a modern and unified Albanian state. He worked for strong and functional institutions. He served in ministerial roles. He also briefly served as Prime Minister in 1921.
He continued to support the liberation of Kosovo. He sought international support from the Great Powers.
In 1933, he was assassinated in Thessaloniki. His death marked the end of a life dedicated to the Albanian national cause.
