TIRANA, April 29 – The Central Procurement Operator takes part in an international workshop in Poland organised by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The event focuses on integrating Environmental, Social and Governance criteria into public procurement, a key priority in European sector reform.
In this context, the institution presents its experience as a success case. It highlights the inclusion of environmental and social criteria in public procurement procedures in Albania.
Institution director Arlinda Pogaj, together with other representatives, shares practical experience from implementation. They explain how sustainability standards enter tender documents, technical specifications, and evaluation criteria. They say the approach improves efficiency in the use of public funds and strengthens environmental and social impact.
Meanwhile, discussions underline the role of green and social procurement as a tool for sustainable development. Participants also address practical challenges linked to the application of these criteria in different countries.
The workshop serves as a platform for exchange of international practices. Representatives from Poland, Lithuania, and Ukraine take part in the discussions.
In addition, special attention goes to emergency and wartime procurement. Ukrainian representatives share challenges and mechanisms used to ensure continuity of public supply and transparency under exceptional conditions.
Finally, the Central Procurement Operator says its participation reflects ongoing efforts to align Albania’s public procurement system with advanced international standards. The institution aims to strengthen transparency, competition, and accountability in the sector.
